Fintech super app. From easy money management, to travel perks and investments, designed an app with solutions that help you get more out of what you do —all from one place. One point of access. Banking + Investment, FIAT + Crypto
Goal/Task To design the MVP. To create a baseline, so client would be able to build on it.
The target user is financially active but fragmented
managing money across multiple apps with no single point of control.
Defining the problem.
Problem statement. Research confirmed that the problem wasn't a missing feature
— it was a missing mental model. Existing apps forced users to think
in financial product categories (banking, crypto, investments)
instead of how they actually think: in terms of their money as a whole.

User interviews.
Fragmentation fatigue.
Users weren't just inconvenienced by using multiple apps — they were making worse financial decisions because of it. Switching between apps broke their mental picture of their total financial health.

"I check Revolut for spending, Coinbase for crypto, and my bank app for savings
— but I never see them together, so I never really know where I stand."

Crypto anxiety is a trust problem, not a complexity problem.
Users weren't intimidated by how crypto worked — they were anxious about losing money and not knowing when to act. The UX challenge wasn't simplification; it was building confidence through context.

Users set goals across asset types.
People think in goals — "travel fund", "emergency savings", "long-term portfolio" — not in categories like FIAT vs. crypto. They wanted the app to reflect how they think, not how financial systems are structured.
Competitor Analysis.
Everyone treats crypto as a separate product.
Every competitor — including Revolut — keeps crypto behind a dedicated tab or section.
It signals "this is different, possibly risky." No one had designed FIAT and crypto as equals within the same interface.

Investment UX is either intimidating or trivializing.
Robinhood gamified investing to a point that felt irresponsible. Traditional bank investment tools felt cold and inaccessible. There was a clear gap: a calm, informed middle ground that felt neither like a casino nor a spreadsheet.

Onboarding is where trust is won or lost.
Competitors with poor KYC/onboarding flows — too many screens, confusing identity steps,
no progress feedback — had significantly more drop-off friction. The first 5 minutes set the tone for whether a user trusts the product with their money.
Jobs-to-Be-Done Mapping.
Three core jobs emerged.
Users hired the app for three distinct jobs:
1. Monitor — a quick daily check on their overall financial position.
2. Move — transferring money or rebalancing across assets.
3. Grow — discovering and acting on investment opportunities. Each job had different frequency, context, and emotional stakes.

The "monitor" job was highest frequency but worst served.
Users checked their financial state multiple times a day — but had to open 3–4 apps to do it.
A unified dashboard serving the "monitor" job became the MVP's most critical screen.
If we got that right, everything else would follow.

Journey mapping revealed a hidden friction point.
When users wanted to move money from savings into crypto, the journey crossed multiple apps and often a browser. The mental load of that multi-step process caused users to abandon the action entirely. In-app cross-asset transfers became a key MVP flow — not just a nice-to-have.
Customers studies & reports.
Sensor Tower. An Analysis of Global Fintech and Crypto App Market Trends,
Forrester. The Future Of Experiences In Financial Services, Plaid. Consumer Survey: The Fintech Effect

By 2027, the top 30 crypto apps had exceeded 500 million downloads globally,
while the average fintech user was managing money across 3.3 separate apps.
The market was large and growing fast — but completely fractured. No single product owned the full financial picture.

76% of users said they were more likely to use an app they could access instantly, while 80% preferred apps that verify identity. These two numbers sat in direct tension: speed vs. security. Getting onboarding right wasn't a flow detail — it was the product's first trust moment.

Forrester found financial CX leaders win by making complexity legible, not by hiding it.
Plaid confirmed: 83% of investment users said they'd switch to a brand that made them feel more confident. The competitive advantage wasn't more features — it was a calmer, clearer experience that built confidence at every step.
Design challenges.
Unifying FIAT + Crypto in one coherent UX. FIAT users expect bank-like stability and trust signals. Crypto users expect real-time prices, portfolio views, and market volatility indicators. Forcing both into one screen risked confusing both audiences.

Information architecture for a super-app. Banking, investments, crypto, travel perks, and money management all compete for navigation space. A flat nav gets bloated fast. A deep hierarchy buries key actions.
Scope.
What was in — and what was deliberately left out.
